Each year 50 painters from across the United States are invited by
Laguna Art Museum and Laguna Plein Air Painters Association to
paint plein air in the city of Laguna Beach, California. This event
is one of the most prestigious events of its kind in North America,
culminating in a museum exhibition and sale at the end of the week.
It is an honor for me to be invited for the third time to this event,
for the 12th Annual,taking place at the Laguna Art Museum, October 10-17, 2010,
to paint in the company of these painters of renown and talent.

"Artists paint San Clemente"

This week over 100 artists participated in painting the city of San Clemente and
its surroundings in the "San Clemente PaintOut." On Saturday, June 19, over 70 of
those artists were given three hours to create a painting centered around the main street to
the pier. Rick set up under the pier, and painted this view of Marine Safety headquarters.
He was honored with the second prize award.

"Delanty Artworks Donated to California State Parks"

The refurbished Visitor's Center and Historic Cottage at Calafia State Beach
in San Clemente will display the original painting, "San Mateo Valley"--30x40 in.,
pictured above--as commissioned by the San Onofre Foundation, and six reproductions
of each of the Trails in San Onofre State Beach trail system. Proceeds from the sale
of these high-quality giclee reproductions have been donated to aid in fundraising for
the State Park system, and to promote the preservation mission of the Foundation.

"Plein Air Painters at Hearst Castle"

"A Brush with History" occurred at Hearst Castle on May 12 and 13, 2010,
when 23 California plein air painters were invited to paint on the grounds
for the first time. Each artists created three paintings, to be exhibited
at the "Twilight On the Terrace" gala at the Castle, attended by 300 guests.

27 Artists, sponsored by the Heritage Foundation
of San Clemente, California combined their creative
efforts in photography, drawing and painting to
produce an art book that celebrates the
"Spanish Village by the Sea."

San Clemente High School was Rick's "home" for 32 years,
as an art educator at all levels in Drawing and Painting, beginning through advanced.
The rewards of seeing students reaching toward their own potential was inspiration enough
to return to campus day after day.
"A dream job for anyone who wants to learn more about art, themselves, and young adults."
Rick retired from teaching in 2006, and has been painting full-time since.
